Wim WendersWim Wenders

The world is richer for Wim Wenders. Industrious and persistent, Wim has been central to international cinema since emerging as one of the major players in the ‘New German Cinema’, a re-defining movement of the late 1970’s, and having shot near to 40 features he brings to 2AM a cultivated wealth of expertise.

Wim’s unbridled work ethic led to an output of at least a feature per annum in the 70’s with productions in both Europe and the US. Notable collaborators included Francis Ford Coppola and a casting of Dennis Hopper in ‘The American Friend’. The Venice Festival of ’82 awarded Wim his first international acknowledgement, a Golden Lion, for 'The State of Things', swiftly followed in ’84 by the Palm d’Or for ‘Paris, Texas’ in Cannes. Global cult status was now being cemented with growing commercial success.

Oscar nominated for Best Documentary Feature ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ proved Wim is equally adept within the documentary format and his love of combining music with moving image showed itself further in concert projects with Willie Nelson and U2, together with the documentary series ‘The Soul of a Man’ for the PBS series ‘The Blues’.

Together, Wim and 2AM have most recently completed a series of television spots for UBS through Publicis London and we eagerly await their release. Wim also shot a combined television, cinema and photographic print campaign for Stella Artois through Mother London .

Wim's lastest feature 'PINA' received rave reviews including 5 stars from The Times and has been a huge international success. The film was shot in 3D and features the inspiring art of the great German choreographer Pina Bausch.
