Thriller In Manila
John Dower has won a highly respected Grierson award for his incredible documentary, 'Thriller in Manila'.
'Thriller' tells the story of the infamous and possibly most hyped boxing match in the sport's history between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. This time however told from Frazier's point of view.
The film includes a unique and intimate interview with Frazier as he watches the fight for the very first time.
It took John 7 months to persuade Frazier to watch the fight again.
The Grierson Awards were established in 1972. They recognise and celebrate documentaries from Britain and abroad that have made a significant contribution to the genre and that demonstrate quality, integrity, creativity, originality and overall excellence.
