Thriller In Manila
John travelled to the Peabody Awards Ceremony in New York this week to collect his prize for his documentary film ‘Thriller In Manila’
The film focuses on the last of three epic heavyweight bouts between Muhammed Ali and Joe Frazier in Manila, the most publicised boxing match in history. In his most intimate interview ever, a 66 year old Frazier looks back at the fight and reveals he has never forgiven Ali for taunting him as a 'gorilla' and 'uncle Tom', mortal insults for a fellow black man.
The Peabody Awards, the world's oldest prize in electronic media, remain among the most distinguished honours in their field. They aim to reward "the most outstanding achievements" and "the best of the best" of the year's electronic media output, so many congratulations to John from 2AM
